In Loving Memory
1936 - March 20, 2025
“She was the kind of woman who made every room feel like home, and every stranger feel like family.”

Her Story
DDamaris Wangari Muraguri lived a long, full, and meaningful life. Born and raised in Gakira, Kangema, she remained deeply rooted in the place she called home and in the values that shaped her life. She passed away peacefully on 20 March 2026 at the age of 90, leaving behind a strong family, a grateful community, and a legacy that will live on for generations.
She was a woman of warmth, strength, and remarkable presence. To those who knew her, she was not only the heart of her family but also a true matriarch in the wider community. She carried herself with wisdom, grace, and quiet authority, and her life was a steady example of faith, hard work, and devotion to family. Damaris had a special gift for making people feel at home. She was funny, lively, and full of wisdom, and she created memories that her family will treasure forever. Her grandchildren remember gathering around her in the kitchen as meals were prepared over firewood, while she roasted maize or potatoes nearby and filled the evening with stories, laughter, and song. These were simple moments, but they became some of the richest memories of love, belonging, and family.
Her love for her family was deep and wide. She shared a close bond with all 35 of her grandchildren, and each one knew they were cherished. Her family was one of her greatest joys, and moments such as her 85th birthday celebration, shared with her grandchildren and cousins, reflected the deep love and unity she helped build among those around her. She believed deeply in the value of hard work and encouraged those around her to give their best in all they did. Her words, “Mureme kumia,” remain a lasting blessing and a reminder of the values she passed on to her family. Her spiritual foundation in the ACK Church also shaped her life, giving her strength and guiding the way she lived, loved, and served others.
Today, we remember Damaris Wangari Muraguri with gratitude and honor. We celebrate a life well lived, a woman deeply loved, and a legacy that continues in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know her. Though she is no longer with us in body, her influence, her love, and her memory will remain in our hearts always.
May she rest in eternal peace.

She would bring food whenever anyone on our street was unwell. Without fail, without being asked. That was just who she was.
